Photographer's Note
Ok, it'll be the last one for me, at least for this year...
Aberdeen quays and 3 towers, 3 guys and 3 boats : I'm specially attracted with number 3 in photography...
Behind me, some old folks playing cards and checkers (see previous pic), in front of my lens, retired men, tired of playing cards, maybe remembering their youth.
Is this hand pointing the direction where years ago, there were no towers yet to hide the horizon or is he just showing the same boat he used to ride?

Gorgeous picture luko, composition is outstanding the eye is led into the picture by the left man standing to the right man which points to the direction of the towers. The boats were placed just for u'r great frame it's like "leaping" from one boat to another till u get to the far end.
I wish I had one picture as good as this one.
one of the best I have seen in a very long time.

Intriguing shot! This is so close to where I lived in HK. I was in the South Horizons development at Ap Lai Chau. We had Aberdeen Harbor on one side and the Lamma Cannel, which we faced out on, on the other.
I'm sure those towers were built after we left. I don't remember ferry landings there either. But HK does seem to reinvent itself every other year.

I like the idea of 3 and I'd give three points if I could. a very strong image showing the two faces of HK. I like the point of view, above their shoulders. Well done, Luko, and a happy new year.

What a minimalist day-in-the-life type shot. Reminds me of some of the best street photography. Great tones, great work.

Beautiful composition. That you caught them in mid action is what gives this pic a story telling feel. Great contrast too. Happy New Year Luko!

A fine composition, the humans adds a touch of life. But the best thing is the contrast between the seemingly old boats and docks to the highises on the other side. Well done!

It is so easy to pick out your pictures, Luko. The meticulous attention to details (man's looks, pointing hands, boat headings)to guide the viewer eyes to your main subject. And that wonderful B&W treatment

I do like the complexity of your shots - you cram so much in. I've never even attempted to frame anything like this - I shall have to try it.

Yep, this is Hong Kong Harbour alright! - even tho it's 1977 I was there last! Someplace I have a pic of Yangon harbour - ships along the waterfront in downtown Yangon, taken only August 2003 - will put it up!

A really nice, "just another day" kind of shot. Again, compo is really good. As you say, the number 3 is really nice in photography. Your tonal range is also very nice. As i final touch, i like the glows lying by the stairs it makes it look like an area where pepole are working and living.

wide lens again, grainy B&W... this photo is very typical for your style, there is a theme - numbers again, some action, interesting and original composition. I really like the way you captured the guy standing in the corner, his whole figure, almost like "in front" of the foreground... you were just behind him I think. very good work

Looks like some toning. Very pleasing photo. I tend to put too much contrast in photos to add to the drama but I love to see work that stands on it's own. This does.

Très belle photo, le cadrage est parfait. La profondeur de l'image est très bien avec ces hommes en avant-plan et ces building en arrière-plan. Il semble y avoir un peu de brume en vers les buildings... ce qui ajoute un effet dramatique à la photo. Bravo.

Luko, something I like the most about your pictures is that you really explore depth of field. Objects surrounding the main scene get into the photography, and they are important to composition. This idea, of creating a rhythm with the number three repeated three times, resulted in a fantastic picture. That's what wide lenses are for. Very good work.

Joli clin d'oeil au contastre entre modernité et tradition... La technique est là! Composition parfaite, belle intensité des gris....beau sujet... Une très chouette photo, qui dénote une longue expérience en la matière! On prend des notes!

This "old" photo was featured today on TE'S main page and I jumped at the chance to add my 2 cents ;o) All Ic an say is that any affection you might have for the 21mm is amnly illustrated here. This is one of the best compos I've seen in quite a while - ok, a PERFECT scene, Luko. The way the tones go from dark and contrasty at first to almost foggy towards the top is cause for serious celebration..
A belated Well Done!
