Photographer's Note

I thought long and hard about whether or not to post this picture. The language is a little inappropriate. I however decided to post it because it shows well what I saw in Xingtai.

This picture is one of the high class supermarkets of Xingtai, apparently catering to the higher class, and hopefully foreigners. They took the nice step of translating what was in each isle. They were extending a welcoming gesture to the small English speaking population, which is appreciated very much. However as much as they try, they forget to look at things from the foreigners point of view. Small things, like greetings and what a certain F word means. Things like this remind me why I am there, teaching culture as much as English.

In case you are wondering what was actually in that isle. It was dried goods. Things like dried mushrooms, seaweed, and many things that I could not tell what they were. If anyone knows what this sign is trying to say, please leave a comment.
