Photographer's Note
This was a bit of a challenge. Up high on Maji Shan, walking the scaffolds, ancient buddha's can be admired.
Some of them are in grottoes, some of them out in the open. Most of them are protected in some way, shielded from pigeons and/or graffiti, or worse.
This row of seated buddha's was behind a kind of chicken wire, probably for good reason. But not that easy to photograph.
I focussed on the statue in the front, then applied some burn on the face in pp. The Chinese tourists walking the planks are left out of focus, but add a sense of dimension.
---
The Maijishan Grottoes are a series of caves cut in the side of the hill of Majishan. They contain over 7,200 Buddhist sculptures and over 1,000 square meters of murals. Construction began in the Later Qin era (384-417).
The name Maijishan translates as "Wheatstack Mountain", a reference to the bizarre shape of the mountain.
A wider view giving you a sense of the location is included in the workshop.

Bonjour Benny,
J'aime beaucoup la construction de cette image. J'aime la ligne de fuite et le cadrage intéressant qui pousse le regard vers les humains.
Amicalement

Hi Bonjour dear Benny
Ya very precious posting, Benny. We have to pay attention to the importance to maintain these regacies.
NIce panfocus and wideangle setting makes this shot so vital. Blurred tourists are very good accent.
All the best and have a good day! Takero

Dag dear Benny
In my opinion you did really well showing the images behind the cages. In this POV we can understand the grotto as well to some extent...fine perspective & shot
Best Regards
Angshu
