Photographer's Note

went to the Athletics this week and had a chance to see the amazing Bird's Nest structure. Interesting to see how Beijing city transformed itself from an uptight and dusty capital of PRC into a capital of the Olympic Games in a few months time (I was here in December last time). The city is cleaned up, construction sites are hidden behind huge Olympic poster boards, there is no dust on the streets (!!). And absence of non-Olympic advertising or signage. You cannot avoid Olympics anywhere you go :-)

re photo: i wanted to show the Beijing Olympics "largesse" and the role and feelings of individual spectators, simple Chinese folk. i wonder if they are feeling part of the China's "coming out party" or small and unimportant observers?
