Photographer's Note

China is known for it’s ancient civilization, rich history and magnificent culture. Yeah, everyone knows that. “Oh, really?” –was my first question along with my first step on the Chinese land. And where is it, let me ask? Except architecture and famous wushu-calligraphy skills? I thought “culture” is something that is represented by people, not buildings. Yes, I know, “Cultural revolution, historical background…”
I’ve been living in China for more than 3 years, and of course I got used to most of the things that used to shock me in the beginning. I don’t look at Beijing with the eyes of a tourist anymore, I pass by a lot of things that used to capture my attention before. But of course there are things that still literally hurt my ears (like spitting and…), nose (like fish in strawberry sauce) and eyes (like small kids in huge panties with holes between their lags for natural conveniences, and something like on this picture). Those bicycles where parked by the fence 5 minutes after our condominium’s gardener finished decorating it with beautiful rose bushes. You may guess what happened to them in 5-6 days. But who cares? The governmental plan was to decorate the city with flowers, but was anything said about taking care of them? So I’m still in search of answer: where is so famous Eastern “Love nature” stuff???
