Photographer's Note

The Jade Buddha Temple ( Called Yufo Si in Chinese ) is one of the main attractions of Shanghai and is visited by almost all foreigners touring the city. It is also very popular among Chinese who come in great masses. The Jade Buddha itself is not on this picture and photography is not permitted where it stands. It is a 2m high white jade Statue offered by Burma. The temple itself was built between 1911 and 1918.
Here ,like all other foreigners who were there, I was very thrilled to be present when a full scale ceremony held by 50 or 60 monks started. They were chanting and the drummer seen in the middle-right kept the beat. It was a good farewell scene on my last day in China. This is the first picture of my new CHINA series.
