Photographer's Note
From one of the small lanes between shanty-town structures just North of the Suzhou Creek.
The area is very mixed, with the old shanty-towns, industrial buildings, new galleries and exhibition halls, as well as the ever-present new gated residential communities.
One of the things, I think amazes many foreigners coming to Shanghai, is the use of bamboo scaffolds. Not only in lower buildings like here, but even 30+ floors buildings are made with scaffolds of bamboo. Must be a dangerous job for the workers...or maybe they are just extremely skilled in making those structures?
