Photographer's Note
This is a sample and typical image of the slowly diminishing life of the open Chinese market. The town is JiangZhou, a relatively small “city” by China standards. This market is but a small one, perhaps of many still in operation near the Wal-Mart which is just down the street. Meat items are prepared and chopped here to order, prepared the Chinese way for the day’s meals – it is still early morning. The lights cast a dim view and cleanliness in detail is hard to see. This scene is a daily event, almost no day missed.

Hi David,
Great capture of daily life. I love market shots because they really show how people live--after all, food is a necessity that no one can live without. It's a shame that markets like this one are slowly (or perhaps quickly?) diminishing because of competition from foreign corporations. I like the dim view because it creates an appropriate atmosphere for the shot.
Thanks for sharing!
