Photographer's Note

This Photo was taken at Datong, a fortressed town lied between the inner and outer Great Wall of China. The town was of critical military significance during the Ming Dynasty. The gate towers built along the Wall at strategic points provided a solid and complete defense network against the nomadic Mongolian attacks led by Genghis Kahn. Today, the Wall in the northern borders was destroyed, only the crumbling towers of this magnificent structure remain.
