Photographer's Note

These are some of the temples on Wudangshan. Wudangshan is a sacred Taoist mountain in Hubei Province. The mountain is famous, not just because of it's physical beauty, but also because it is the birthplace of Taichiquan. The legend says that a monk watched a bird attacking a snake and saw how the snake used fluid easy movements to defeat the bird, thus the flowing style of Taichiquan was born. The mountain is still a mecca for martial arts enthusiasts. It is popular with Chinese tourists but pretty far off the beaten path for International tourists. If you visit, be sure to walk up and not take the cable car, to see the many beautiful temples and quiet valleys that surround the peak.
