Photographer's Note

10.15 a.m. - Along the way down the Yangtze and passing through the magnificent gorges we boarded a smaller boat at Badong that brought us into a tributary of the Yangtze called Shennong Stream which is 60km long. The Shennong stream rises in the Southern part of Shennongjia Natural Reserve. It joined the Yangtze at Xirangkou in Hubei’s Badong county. Here the crystal clear green water flows swiftly through deep gorges with lush greeneries on both sides. Once in a while you will be able to spot mysterious ancient coffins tucked into a cave or suspended in a crack of the cliff. These were placed there 2000 years ago. Take a look at WS for a shot of the ‘hanging coffins’ as they are more popularly known. It was still drizzling and again I had to use my umbrella to take these shots from the open deck on top of the boat. I should get a waterproof camera next time!!
