Photographer's Note

Four monks head off to school in Kampong Cham, Cambodia.

There are several schools that people attend in Kampong Cham and these four monks are headed to one of them in the early morning.

They reside at Wat Bankok, a site that is still pock marked by the artillary used on the complex during the Pol Pot regime.

The monks reside inm a building formerly used as an education facility built in 1957 to further the education of monks from around Cambodia.

Since Pol Pot was decidedly against education, or people who were educated, this location was a strategic target for the Khmer Rouge during the days of Kampong Cham's forced evacuation.
