Photographer's Note

I can hear the clock Capt. Hook!

The crocodile show in Koh Kong's Safari World is morbidly fascinating. As I stared through my viewfinder I was hoping the trainer would survive the show and that I wouldn't have a photo that was being sought by news organizations.

The trainers go through a process of desensitizing the croc by rubbing a stick over it's snout and through its mouth until it ceases snapping at the stick. Then they slowly open its mouth wider and wider until a head will fit in. The trainer does this 2 or 3 times a show, twice a day ... and he still looks very worried. Having already demonstrated the rapidity with which the crocs close their mouth, I don't think the trainer would have a chance to get out if the croc felt like a bit of dessert.
