Back to temples and today to the unrestored Ta Prohm, a temple dating from the 12-13th centuries and abandoned with the fall of the Khmer empire in the 15th century. The original Khmer name was Rajavihara ("monastery of the king").
What sets Ta Prohm apart is that a conscious decision was made not to try to restore it but to leave it largely as found with massive trees growing over large sections of the ruins. It had never been totally consumed by the jungle.
What maintenance is done is mainly to stabilise the ruins for safety and access purposes (see the 2nd workshop for work in progress).
the main photo and first workshop both show massive trees growing over sections of the ruins.

Hi Ian
That fence is new since I was there. I converted my shot to sepia but colour as seen here is nice too. The cloudy day compensated with an even, diffused light. Tfs!

Ciao Ian, It is difficult to say whether the ancient temple is more impressive or the fabulous roots that surround it, it almost seems as if they strangle it. Great photo with fine details and beautiful sharpness, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Pozdrav.
Lepo drvece i stara arhitektura, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama, kontrastom i dobrim tekstom.
Dobar rad sa lepim fotografijama u radionici.
Lepe rusevine i fotografije, priroda osvaja stari hram.
Zelim vam sve najbolje.

The famous tree of Ta Prohm, well composed and fine details.
I don't remember a fence being there in 2003 or that walkway.

Hello Ian,
My first thought was that this looked like something from 'Dr. Who', where aliens were slowly taking over the world, with their long, extended tentacles! It is amazing that such a giant tree can grow without a great depth of soil! It's a fine photograph!
Your w/s reminds me of Council workmen in England. There always seems to be a big team, with one working, one recording and the rest there for mental support!
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hello Ian,
This temple is so very special that it remains in my memory stronger than most others in this area. The main photo shows us the essence of its magic. The tree is well placed towards the side.

Gert

Hi Ian,
The roots are taking over the temple. The point of view is showing the details of Ta Prohm temple. The light is giving good colors output. Have a nice day.

Hello Ian, it is amazing to see the size of the trees that have grown over the beautiful stonework.
The roots look like petrified stone.
Three excellent shots that give us a great impression of this place.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Ian,
Pictures like this one here and your second in the WS had been driving me to visit Angkor for years.
I don't know if you had to wait long to take a photo without other visitors.
I did. There was always a constant stream of visitors posing in front of these overgrown walls or taking selfies there.
Best regards, Paul

Great effect, very well done,
