Today I am taking you in closer to the walls of the Buddhist 12th/13th century Bayon temple.
behind the pillars is a wall with yet more intricate stone carvings.
Above them you can see the towers with huge carved faces on them and to the front, far left there appears to be the head of a naga (1/2 cobra, 1/2 man) which I've only just noticed.
In the WS is a close up of a pair of carved dancing figures.

Hi Ian
These big statues are similar to Mayan steles of Copan, Honduras.
Both photos are nice and interesting.

Hi Ian
There used to be a restaurant in Khao Sarn Road Bangkok featuring copies of the enigmatic Bayon faces. It inspired me to get on a bus to Aranyaprathet & cross the border at Poipet to go see the real thing!

Hello Ian,
Another amazingly sharp and well exposed photo showing some fantastic carvings on the wall and two of the famous faces of Bayon. The WS is also beautiful but I wonder why the dancer to the left had her face destroyed.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Ian,
You had such a beautiful and clear sunlight here, which was perfect for all those tiny details and carvings in the old walls and towers of the ruins. The trees make a good addition in the background as well.

Hello Ian,
WE learn so much about different parts of the world on this site, which is the whole intention!
I thought I could see the heads on your previous photograph but they are more distinct here.
I love the bas relief dancing ladies. They seem so full of movement!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Ian,
The photo in the WS clearly shows in detail which scenes we can admire on the long wall in your main photo.
The tall towers with the faces rising above the wall are phenomenal.
Fortunately, you didn't have large groups walking in front of your camera.
Best regards, Paul
