Photographer's Note

Close up of the front detail of Wat Ounalom, located on Sisowath Quay near the Royal Palace of Cambodia. As the center of Cambodian Buddhism, Wat Ounalom is the most important wat in Phnom Penh with its 44 structures which dated back to 1443 when it was founded.

It received a battering during the Pol Pot Khmer Rouge in the late 70s but today the wat is coming back to life, a colorful complex full of monks and novices, also a pleasant place to enjoy a shady respite....
