Misty morning, a photo from Chittagong, South

Photographer's Note

Whilst we were trekking in the Chittagong Hill Tracts in 2013 the temperatures were reported to be the coldest winter for 50 years, reaching all time lows of 3 degrees at night. That may not seem cold to us, but when your house is made of bamboo and there is no heating and you have only a blanket over your bed. Believe me, it's cold! The first villagers are up and a fire is lit, tea is being made It feels good with hands wrapped around the tea-cup waiting for the sun to burn the mist away

Great bl/w shot from nine years ago already. It does look very cold. I also remember from treks in northern Myanmar or northern Vietanm how cold it could get in the morning up in the hills. Sleeping with all our clothes on...those were the days. Western Eruope is nice, but we're counting down to being able to really travel again.

Hi Elaine,a wonderful photo, the haze and the low contrast black and white makes it look like an old image from the 30's. Everything is perfectly placed in the composition, from the people to the houses, and the quality is spectacular, great memory of your cold arrival and foggy in this village. A great street/village photo on a misty and cold morning with people warming themselves by the fire.
Even when I travel by road in Australia I always have a blanket with me as some people expect you to sleep with the A/C on all night.

Hello Elaine,

I cannot bear the cold!! And it has been very cold in our part of the UK recently!

This is another fine photograph showing the everyday conditions of buildings and life in the village. It is beautifully composed with the trio of people strongly positioned in the off-centre f/g.
