Photographer's Note

Good Morning TE!
I hope you enjoyed the cool atmosphere of the sunset light on Mollah Karim village from yesterday’s post (And I know you all saw the photo… ). Today, enjoy another type of very common afghan landscape, “the Russian tank’s shell versus the ruined house”. And the winner is? Tough question. It would be much easier to answer if the question was “And the loser is?”. Countless young Russian traumatized by a war they never understood. Countless afghan orphans, displaced families, ruins of villages and a generation wasted.
Now if you get a chance to talk to elders (in Takhar Province) about the last 30 years of war, they’ll tell you that “the war against the Russians was nothing”. Nothing compare to the even more painful years of internal conflicts between different factions of Mudjahedins, the inter-ethnic massacres, to which succeeded the reign of the taliban.

You might want to get back to that photo I was telling you about at the beginning. It’s called “6pm Mollah Karim village”, it’s a much more peaceful view of Afghanistan…

p.s; Thanks for reading the critics I send to you, I now have a little silver star next to my name (it’s really cute).
