Photographer's Note

We boarded the Zodiac for our ride from the MV Corinthian to Barrientos Island an island located within the Aitcho chain of the South Shetland Islands. This is our first first landing on our Antarctica White Wilderness Cruise.

I was warned by a friend who had been to Antarctica that you need to use something to block the strong aroma of penguin guano. She suggested Ben Gay. I brought Tiger Balm, however I forgot to apply it prior to leaving the ship we were informed at the last minute we would be making a landing today since we made great time crossing the Drake Passage. Once we approached the island the aroma was very strong! I eventually I got used to it.

We saw the following wildlife: Chinstrap penguins, Gentoo penguins, Brown Skua, Giant Petrels, Kelp Gulls and Southern Elephant seals.
