Photographer's Note

Lesedi Cultural village is a touristic destination in South Africa, situated in Cradle of Humankind district west of Pretoria.
The village was established in 1993 with the vision to provide an authentic showcase of the traditional cultures of some of the well known African tribes, who have their home in South Africa. Representatives of these tribes facilitated the design of the cultural villages to ensure an historically representative portrayal of the cultures, highlighting aspects of the traditional way of life. Members of these historic communities live at Lesedi and continue to breathe life into their fascinating cultures
The village contains five traditional homesteads including Zulu, Xhosa, Pedi, Basotho and Ndebele.
Local families live permanently in each of these five homesteads and visitors are invited to observe the African way of life by either enjoying a short tour of the villages or actually living among these families in guest accommodation.
