Photographer's Note

Located near Victoria Falls town, the "Big Tree" is an enormous baobab estimated 1500 years old.

David Livingston have discover it at mid 19th century and became the meeting place for pioneers.
The Baobab tree is very drought resistant due to the ability to store large amounts of water in the spongy soft wood.
When seen in the dry season without leaves it is easy to understand the African legend which tells of an Evil Spirit that grew angry with the Baobab trees and uprooted them all.
The Spirit later reconsidered his actions and replanted them all upside down.

Now it height is 16 m and the circumference is about 20 m.
Before the 1960 year's huge storm, it was the larger baobab of the world.
It height was 20 m and the circumference was about 44 m !
Some parts of the tree had to be cut after the lightning destroyed it partially.
