Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
When I posted my last wintery scene, several people expressed an interest in seeing it in black and white so, with that in mind, this snowy scene is in that format.
The shot shows an old farmhouse on the edge of my village. It is built from local stone, thickly walled to withstand the cold winters and with an interesting mixture of windows. It has an old curved road as its access, bounded by a rustic fence.
On this particular morning, the sky was still overcast after a short snowfall. The house seemed still to be asleep, nestling safely in the fluffy winter duvet.
The recent rain has now removed the snow so my pictures are charming memories; maybe that's how we like it best, to see the beauty but not experience the cold and the associated disruptions.
Many thanks for stopping by.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph. Bev :-)

Hello Bev,
The black and white heightens the wintry mood. You have made good use of the curving fence line to draw the eyes round to the house. The overhanging branches on the right create a good sense of depth. A nice range of tones with good sharpness.

It's as grey as this outside my window today but without snow fortunately. As usual a very well composed image with excellent use of the fence sweeping into the scene.
I'm on 'snooze' mode at the moment getting ready for the exodus on Friday.

Hello Beverly,
Good composed winter rural shot. The subject is well suited for B&W. I like the quietness. Effective use of the fence and well framed and in balance thanks to the treebranches.

Hello Beverley,
nice winter scene with good composition with the diagonal leading the eyes.
It is a strange strong winter this year, even here, where we enjoy some snow every year, the loads of snow are unbelievable. If my children did not take turns in being ill, I would definitely go out and took these "ordinary" shots as well, as Pixel terror suggests.
I have always admired English gardens, are not the species in danger when the winter is not mild as usually?
Best regards
Romana

HI Beverley
i'm glad you posted one in black and white.
the best part of this photo is the presentation and composition.
love the curvature of the wooden fence, and how all the elements take up the entire frame.

Hi Bev,
Splendid wintertime image with the old road winding tightly towards the beautiful old farm house.
The fence adds a lovely curving lead-in to the lovely English farmn.

Hi Bev,
The line of the long fence looks very good here, as it leads up to the house on top of the hill. But it looks bery cold here!
Kind regards

Nice one Bev. I went back and looked at the same scen shot when it was green there, the two make a great pair, this is one of those potentials for a four seasons collage maybe. Anyway it is a fine capture, I just wish winter would come back here, it is middle Jan and it is 50 (F) outside and all the snow is gone...

Hi Bev,
Terrific winter scene. Love the way the road and fence curve up to the house. I hope there is a warm fire going. It looks really chilly with your good use of contrast.
Grand work.
cheers

Hi Beverley,
B&W is a very appropriate choice for this excellent composition, this new POV on this already well known scene works excellently and is giving us another nice impression of your wonderful place. I like the atmosphere of the winter a lot. And reading your note was a pleasure too. My compliments!

Hi Bev
For sure, a good compo and a brilliant idea for a winter shot. But I find it too grey, mainly the snow, and so I propose you my vision in a WS.

Good morning Bev,
lovely Winter scenery with the wooden fence to creates perspective and depth in the image leading the eye on the far end of the snowy road.I like the existence of the old stone made farmhouse on the edge of the village with the left side of the ground to be covered with the dense snow.
Have a good week,Danos
