Photographer's Note

Good Morning Everyone,

We have had some violent storms this winter with lots of thunder, rain and hailstones.

As we walked along the banks of the River Tees, some of the damage caused by the storms was evident. Stones and debris had been deposited high on the banks and this tree had lost a couple of huge branches. It is not surprising, when you see the size of the branches, and you estimate their weight, that they cause tremendous damage if they land on cars or buildings.

I asked my friend to stand by the tree to help create a sense of scale.

On the positive side, the tree will recover. It was already showing signs of spring buds and the dead branches ... well, they will create valuable homes for insects and small mammals.

Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)
