Photographer's Note

One of the lovely sights in this region of rolling hills is the California Live Oak tree that is found standing magestically, often alone. Here we have three such trees, two at the right, one in front of the other at the edge of a vineyard and the third at the left atop a distant hill. As I've noted elsewhere, this particular tree has very tiny leaves so as not to lose its moisture during the hot days of summer and autumn. Of course, standing next to this vineyard, the trees are treated to abundant water as well as the warming breeze created by tall fans set at the edge of the vineyard as insurance against cold mornings that might damage the valuable grapes before harvest. Of course, this was a pleasant autumn day with bright afternoon sun and billowing clouds to improve the view. This is the Napa Valley at its finest.
