Good Friday Celebrations - Jericho Church members.

The Zionist Christian Churches are a Southern African synchretism of Christianity and pre-colonial religous practices. So, for example, while Christianity will provide the mainstay of the worship, consulting with the ancestors would be seen as a legitimate practise.

The various subgroups tend to organise their own uniform, and the Southern African veld can become a colourful location on any given Sunday with various group dancing and singing in the open air.

The Jericho Church, with their blue and red uniforms is an important branch in Swaziland. On Easter weekend there are huge gatherings, addressed by the king and various important preachers. This shot was taken outside the main Swaziland cathedral, as the groups waited for King Mswati II to arrive.
