Photographer's Note

For hundreds and even thousands years Egypt was Sudan's more powerful neighbour. However about 760 BC the Kushite (ie Sudanese) rulers invaded Egypt and for a hundred years ruled from Luxor as pharaohs. In the history of Egypt this was 25th dynasty, known as the Ethiopian or Nubian Dynasty.

Originally these two granite colossi stood in front of the 25th Dynasty temple at Tabo on the Island of Argo, south of Kerma but they were much later addition. They depict king Natakamani, probably.

Now the colossi are standing in the Sudan National Museum in Khartoum.

The picture slightly lacks of sharpness :-( but someone said 'who cares about the sharpness at TE'
