Photographer's Note

Lesedi is a Sotho word which means "place of light". It was made famous by the great leader and founder of the Southern Sotho Nation, Moshoeshoe. During the terrible Mfecane wars, refugees from many nations joined him and were saved by him. Each morning Moshoeshoe would awaken and walk out into the new day with this expression on his lips ... "Ke Bona Lesedi" ( ı see the light )
Lesedi cultural village is situated in the bushveld at the foot of the Magaliesberg Mt. where families from the Zulu warriornation, the proud Xhosa, the Warmhearted Pedi, the colourful Ndebele people and the Mountain dwelling Basotho live in their traditional homesteads and clothes.
