Photographer's Note

St James Beach is one of the smaller beaches along the False Bay coastline but with its colourful Victorian bathing huts and tidal pool it has a quaintness and charm that makes it a popular destination for Capetonians during the summer.

The hamlet of St James is one of Cape Town’s smaller suburbs but it has a rich history. Along the Main Road towards Muizenberg there are still a number of beautiful old stone mansions and buildings dating back to the late 1800’s attesting to its affluent colonial origins. At the time this particular stretch of Main Road was commonly referred to as “Millionaire’s Mile”.
