Photographer's Note
The Cango Caves in Oudtshoorn.
Where I came from , my hometown Ipoh ( Malaysia ), is surrounded by limestone hills and caves.
That's why I love caves. I find them very fascinating and full of nature wonder formations.
The Cango Caves , we did the Heritage Tour, which is an easy walk through different chambers.
At times, I felt the air very humid and stuffy esp the smaller cave-passage or walkway.
The best part of it, I experienced total 'pitch-black' for few minutes. Boy, I was so glad when the lights
were turn-on again. It was one of the highlight of this tour.
I'll add two more in the WS.
Thank you for your time.

Hello Loong, I live far away from any caves but I also like them and visit whenever it is possible. I haven't seen these South African ones. I prefer like here when they are illuminated but not with the colourful LED lights that look unnatural. Fantastic stalactites, stalagmites and columns. Nice dark figures of the visitors. The Workshop photos are nice too. I will check where Ipoh is :).

Helo Loong,
Quite exciting photos, especially the main one. It looks like the studio of a mad sculptor. ;-) Especially the thick column is fascinating. The cave is very nicely illuminated and has created fantastic silhouettes of the visitors.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Loong,
There are a lot of chalk caves in Yorkshire, too. Caves are the sort of features that are exciting to visit as children and I don’t really think that thrill disappears as we grow older. We may pretend we are visiting for the benefit of the children, but ....!
Your photographs show why we love caves! The stalactites and stalagmites are amazing, especially under such coloured lighting! The silhouettes add human interest and scale.n
Don’t you wonder how Sone Age people were able to use the caves without lights. You know how you felt in complete darkness. They would have had fire but only selectively, not in all places!
Thanks for sharing this, Bev 😊

Hi Loong,
A beautiful cave photo, with good sharpness and composition. You focused on some interesting formations. Some parts are over-exposed, but that's often what happens if you want to show the parts in the shadows.

Hello Loong, I love pictures from caves and caverns, and here, the lighting illuminates all the formations beautifully.
The people in silhouette are a useful guide to the scale of the place.
The experience of 'pitch-black' is one that you don't forget!
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean.

Hi Loong,
Beautiful view from this spacious cave. That tall column is an excellent focal point. It's good that people only appear as silhouettes on this light.

Hello Loong,
Two very successful photos taken inside the large cave.
Your main photo shows wonderfully the many stalactites of which we can estimate the size by means of the visitors present.
In front we see a large rock from top to bottom. It cannot be seen whether this is a stalagmite or a stalactite. The top and bottom part of a cave can also grow together in this way.
Wonderful with the different colours of the rocks.
Very well done!
Best regards, Paul
