Photographer's Note
False Bay: St.James
Okay, I know I know you probably thinking what is this and yes I am by no stretch of the imagination an expert in PS, however this image taken last week in False Bay; St.James looking out towards Simonstown (our Naval base) was an indesicive moment and decided to experiment.
Adjustments included PP desaturating all colours except the 'Girl in Pink'. I love b&w images which isolates colour. So my first experiment in colour isolation.
All comments appreciated & thank you for your visit.
Enjoy..

Hello Lynette,
I like the perspective in this picture. The nice, bright colours of the girl's hair and attire contrast nicely against the dual tone background. Excellent shot.
Cheers,

I really do not like to see tilted horizon lines but this one is totally different. It worked well in your composition and everyone can see that was not by accident. The play with the colours resulted in a very good picture. Congratulations.

I like partial saturations too and the girl's colours here are really striking and stand out well against the B&W. I'm not such a fan of tilt but it does serve to slide the subject from left to right, as placing her at the left would have been better compositionally with a straight horizon. ie giving her space in front of her to look into.(Does that make sense?)

Hi Lynette
A good first pp attempt, with effective & judicious use of desaturation. Good sharpness & tonal range. Tfs!

Hi Lynette,
Very interesting capture, the way you have left the subject in colour outline it well.
Well Done
Thanks for sharing

Hi Lynette,
original picture. I like the contrast of the strong coloured girl and the beautiful B/W tones of the beach.

Hi Lynette,
I am all for experimentation and I think this works wonderfully well. Having seen the original, I can say you have just brought life to this picture. The tilt once again is a nice touch. Love the overall effect.

Really beautiful and very artistic one Lynette!
The idea is really effective and I'd love to see South African see even if its as grey as on your photo:O)

Hi Lynette, I like colour isolation too (though have only posted one image so far). This is really an original perspective. I've been sitting at the computer for several minutes wondering whether I should be critical of the deliberate slant but, no - I think it works very well. A very nice touch to retain all of the girl's shadow in the composition. My only suggestion would be to increase the contrast of the monotones - rather too many greys - but I know it's a matter of personal taste. Very nice indeed and well done. Stephen

Hello Lynette
I like the rotated POV and I like your postprocessing. The result is a very goodlooking composition. (See my tomorrow posting: same pp and a horizontal version of the spot as I showed today)

Hi Lynette,
You show a good work to us of postprocessing, the change of color is very interesting, the girl emphasizes remarkably on the rest of the landscape in b&w, the inclination of the image increases the creativity, good work!

...But this one is my favorite!!! The tilt, which we all know is soooo wrong, puts this shot way over th etop. Great eye!!!

Your selective desaturation worked very well, and the strong tilt is a good effect too. Very 'courageous' and inventive. Well done.

Hello South Africa!!
I'm paying a visit to my main contributor ;-) (this quest is a pain in the a** Lynette! Haha... I'm on the verge of depression...). Anyway, I sure could learn from this photo to boost my miserable audience, hihi. Seriously the tilt in the camera was already a good idea but the girl in pink is giving another dimension. You know what? It looks like an extract from a Trance/Techno video (like Armin van Buuren) especially with this stretched clouds! You might think I'm talking Chinese here but that's what it does on me... Yeah I know I'm tired from this stressful competition for ugly green smileys, haha ;-)
And last I think your first try "color in B&W" is really well done.
Keep well!!
Vincent
