Photographer's Note

We live quite close to the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens, and like to go there for a Sunday afternoon stroll with our cameras. It is a very popular venue for picnics and for wedding photographs. On a Saturday afternoon you could find 5 wedding parties or more on the different terraces being photographed. A bright mix of satin and lace, flowers and ribbons; a cacophony of instructions being shouted out in umpteen different languages, and the music they bring along for the “vibe”.

The gardens are beautiful with a rose garden, a herb garden and even “Shakespeare’s Garden” that features plants out of his books, complete with quotes!

The layout is formal with terraces and fountains, but with an African touch to it. I find the gargoyles quite amusing. Lions, leopard, buffaloes and even crocodiles!
