Photographer's Note

Solitaire is a small town situated at the junction of two major tourist routes cutting through the Namib-Naukluft National Park: C14 (connecting Walvis Bay and Bethanie), and C24 (connecting Rehoboth and Sossusvlei). As its name implies, it is in the middle of nowhere and is the only place to get fuel between the dunes at Sossusvlei and the coast at Walvis Bay, and a common stop-over for tourists. Aside from a gasoline station, there's a puncture and mechanical repair facility, a post office, a general dealer, and the Moose bakery that churns out homemade breads and popular (and world-renowned) apple crumble.

Here you can find also several old rusting Chevvies, Fords, a Hudson and a row of cactuses, in the desert landscape.
