Photographer's Note
The Christ Church (or Christuskirche) is a historic landmark and Lutheran church in Windhoek, Namibia, designed by architect Gottlieb Redecker.
The church was built following the wars between the Germans and the Khoikhoi, Herero, and Owambo. The foundation stone was laid on 11 August 1907, while on 16 October 1910 the church was officially dedicated. It was originally known as the Church of Peace.

Buona giornata,Luciano

Hello Francesco!
For a German, it is always nice to see the remaining influence of our presence in an area which was called Deutsch-Südwestafrika (German Southwest Africa) then. But there are parts of our heritage which dealt with war and genocide, alas!
Thanks for sharing!

Hello Francesco,
A church for peace seems like a very worthwhile dedication.
This is a most curious building though.
Your details clearly show how it has been designed with curved roof details and lots of emphasis on white for decoration.
Maybe it is the colours used and these curved details which immediately brought to mind the gingerbread house from Hansel and Gretel (if you know that story).
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

I remember this church very well, it has marvelous style and it tells much about the hard times when the germans ruled this region. nice angle and quality of image.
