Photographer's Note

My first posting from Namibia - which is my wife's home country - so she got to pick from a number of shots I had thought about (and some of which might get posted in the next few weeks). So this is the shot that a Namibian feels best represents their country (well, from the shots I can offer as a choice, anyway).

The shot is taken behind the sand-dunes which form the inland boundary of Swakopmund. One of those uniform, grey skies which are not easy to work with. I have looked at a B&W finish for this shot, but marginally prefer the colour version.

I would appreciate some thoughtful feedback on this one - it is a very minimalist shot, which might not appeal to all (so tell me why you don't hugely like it). My own thought is that TrekEarth may not be the best place to display this work. I was critiquing a BennyV shot recently and was made aware once again that postcard or even the classic 8 by 12 is not always the best display size for some of our work. I think my shot here would be much better displayed with a very large print - around a metre on the longer edge.

All comments gratefully received, Iain.
