Photographer's Note

This place is Skoura, a little village located along a large palm trees area, south of the Atlas mountains, between Ouarzazate and El Rachidia. My wife and I have spent the whole day with two nice Moroccan guys trekking among the palm trees and the stone desert under a great sun.

They taught us many things about the area : the ingenious hydraulic system maintained for hundreds of years to bring water for the palm trees, the way the Kasbah were built; we went through incredibly wealthy gardens in the middle of the desert, we climbed nice hills from where we could discover hidden villages and so on...

When coming back to our kasbah for the night, a storm was approaching with very dark clouds. Still, the light was still very bright and I found it incredible. It enhanced the red ground and that beautiful tree on the foreground (a Tamariz if I remember correctly what one of the young guys told me). I loved the scene and tried to capture it. That day was so fantastic that I took something like 350 pictures :-)

Levels and tones adjusted, I cloned out the electric wires. USM applied.
