Photographer's Note

I'm back from a week in Morocco ! Before going in the deserts in the souht of Morocco, I stayed three days in Marrakech. And when you think about Marrakech, you think about its famous souks ! In rural places the souks are held weekly most of the time, but in Marrakech they are permanent. Marrakech souks are in the medina (the old town), mostly between Jemaa el-Fna square and Ben Youssef medersa (a former quranic school). They are a labyrinth of small streets, full of colours and smells, a place you have fun losing yourself ! They are divided in a few districts dedicated to one guild : jewels, leather, clothes, slippers, ironworks, carpets, spices, etc... You can also find a few food shops such as this shop of eastern pastries (note the portrait of the King of Morocco on the right, something you can see in many shops in Morocco). Souks are the right place for good deals ... providing that you a good bargainer ! Actually the prices are not displayed, so you have to negociate with the seller and agree for the good price. And of course the souks sellers are very experimented for that !
