Photographer's Note

Berbers in the High Atlas live in many villages surrounded by green vegetation. The people work hard on their fields, thus their living conditions are really harsh. Men smile and ask for a cigarette, women try to get some advantage from turists passing by, and kids, they are really beautiful, however they like to risk their lives by jumping in front of all vehicles trying to stop them while passing through their villages in order to beg for some money or sweets. They pretend to render you a service you have to pay for, like they remove a boulder from the road. Once your car passes by, they replace the bolder into its original position only to repeat the whole show for the next car with turists and cash again some money. So when crossing the High Atlas, be prepared, have tons of sweets or small change and drive carefully.
