Photographer's Note

The island of Mauritius has volcanic origins and its mountains are beautiful and provide an added attraction to this pearl of the Indian Ocean. Sugar cane is a major crop and after a crop, it is a good time to enjoy the mountainous skyline. This one is from the north looking south towards the Montagne Longue range. Note the reddish colour of the soil. This was taken near an area rightly called Terre Rouge. Photo was scanned from an 8x10 print. Camera was Yashica SLR with 50mm lens.
