Photographer's Note

Chinguetti is a village of Mauritania, nested in the desert. We arrived there for the village feast and the wind was blowing like crazy, full of sand. It was very difficult to walk on the dunes, while we were quite protected in the streets. Chinguetti is facing the terrible desert progression with many streets invaded by the sand, daily, while the village is still habitated and quite visited due to the presence of Islam sacred library containing old manuscript, essentially Coran. This picture, although the quality might not be that good due to all the sand present around and shutting the sun rays, give an idea of the mood there.
