Photographer's Note
Sabratha Temples near the Beach - Sabratha was the westernmost of the "three cities" of Tripolis. It lies on the Mediterranean coast about 65km west of Tripoli. Sabratha's port was established, perhaps about 500 BC, as a Phoenician trading-post that served as a coastal outlet for the products of the African backland.

Hi, Achim,
Though this country's rulers brought a lot of evil to our nurses, I can't deny, this is a very nice photogenic place.
Very nice colours and clear image.

Hello Achim
Beautiful image of this temple, the work is good with a good handling of the lights, the definition and the color are excellent.
the composition is ralmente beautiful and also historical, the truth is that to bathe in this beach, it has to be the whole luxury.
big work

I have been trying for quite a long time to get a job in my field in Libya and/or Tunisia, but unfortunately the companies prefer to hire from Europe because of costs. This is to say that I really would like to visit those wonderful temples. The view with the Mediterranean Sea behind the temple is magnificent and only demonstrates that the people of the time also cared for their spirit and sense of beauty. It is a great picture. Well done.

Hi Achim,
This is a nice shot.Like the immense vastness and the feel of emptiness here.Perfect POV.Can't really distinguish between the sea and the sky;the silhouttes and the contrasting colour of the f/g makes this even more beautiful.
Greetings from India,

It's wonderful to see these ruins so close to the sea. Your high POV has given you a good over-view of the area so we can see more of the ruins, but I prefer your WS for the closer view of the temple. Both images are very good.

Hi Achim,
I thought at first this was in Greece because of its columns ... interesting to know this was in Tripoli. I like the wildness of the background ... it seems to compliment the ruins. Very good image quality ... well captured and composed. Well done! tfs

Hallo Achim,
Lieben Gruss, Ulf

Hi Achim,
This photo ripples with history, intrigue and a warm beckoning allure. The ruins are fascinating, situated so close to the sea, and one has to speculate on the trading activity that no doubt the Phoenicians carried on here over the years. I like the blending of hues and tones here in rather mellow colours. Well captured.

Hello Achim,
Bravo !

Hallo Achim,
Your photo has a good visual effect thanks to your good setting and a very special lighting, which offers us a few soft and agreeable colors.
The sky seems to fuse with the sea, which differs for the white foam of the waves.
The old stones and columns of these temples are impressive, very well caught in your shot.
I like it.
Best regards,
Josep

Hallo Achim!
Andreas

Achim,
it is quite surprising to see that these ruines are so close to the water over all this centuries without getting lost to the water or the coast being enlarged and ending up somewhere distant form the shore as I saw for example on several villafes in France that were 800 centuries ago port cities and now the coast is some kilometers away.

We don't see many shots from Libya on TE, John, so this one immediately caught my eye on your home page. You found a perfect POV for this shot. Photographing ruins where there are only columns left is not easy, because you are very limited in your options on how to compose it, but using the ocean and breaking waves as a backdrop really enhances this shot.
Cheers . . . David

Hi Achim - the ruins themselves are pretty impressive, but the seaside setting makes it unique and more interesting, great documentation from a country difficult to visit.
