Photographer's Note

Earlier on this day, I had been flown out to the mountains and left behind at a Partners in Health clinic. My colleague and I were the only fair-skinned people in the entire region that night. The Basotho people in the mountains were very good hosts, and despite the extreme cold that came after this sunset, I stayed warm as I huddled up next to a tiny coal stove and a cup of hot rooibus tea, a South African specialty. One of those nights I wish I could live again!
