Photographer's Note
During my stay in Lesotho, I was shown a large group of children who are part of an organization called Jewels of Hope. JOH takes on orphaned children and gives them an opportunity to raise support by making beautiful African jewelry. The jewelry is sold in a few stores, but is mainly distributed by missionaries who have connections with the project. Each item comes with a picture of the child who made it, and includes information about how to further support them. In addition, the children are mentored and raised into successful adults as they grow older. In a country where many children lose their parents to AIDS and TB, it was great to see that someone cared for these kids.
