Photographer's Note

Bicycles are a way of life in Kenya, and like so many other things, are often broken down and held together with "spit and bailing wire" as the old WWII saying would have it. As you can imagine, then, bicycle repair is a common business, if often an informal one.

We were taking a long weekend to visit friends near Lake Naivasha when I spotted these two repairmen by the side of the road. They must have had a duka (small shop) to store their tools, but it was almost certainly too small to work in.

It was the arrangement of the wheels that first attracted me; I only had a second or two to get the picture.

Technical: Minor cropping, and some small Levels work to touch up the colors.
