Photographer's Note

I didn't take many photos while in Nairobi - I was mainly enjoying time visiting with a friend and relaxing from full on safari the week before.

Here we are at the Masai market where my friend looks for some jewelry for his wife. He tells me that many of the people are not actually Masai, but pretend to be so they can sell their "Masai" beads in the market. Many of the Masai beads are no longer made of the clay and seeds from the Masai areas, but glass beads imported from China.

I suppose this is not something new. When I was in Botswana years ago, I learned that the beads that were over 100 years old were imported from Portugal!
