Photographer's Note
We came a local market in the city of Kumasi to buy the ingredients of dinner.
When asking a grocer's storekeeper sitting on a rail whether I can take photos, she willingly consented.
These stores are opened on the railway tracks as you see on the map.
Kumasi was the capital of the Ashanti Empire inlaid with gold.
I'd always dreamed of visiting Kumasi since having looked at photos taken by Carol Beckwith and Angela Fisher.

Hi Hisashi,
Just wonderful market view. Your low angle works well, maybe it's the thing that made her smile. Good mixture of fish, vegetables, bananas and chili.

Hi Hisashi
I know that Japanese like rail travel a lot, but I was not aware that they would be interested in the Mahachai railway. Thanks for updating me.

Hi Hisashi
This is very bright image with brilliant array of colors on display as central focal of interest. I like your viewpoint with inclusion of the lady as secondary focus, on the lower right, while still giving the overall impression. It certainly is a good slice of market life here. Generally the lady is fairly well positioned at the third in the frame. The colours are fine and red is certainly a magnet here. I find the picture is without much distraction from main subjects, however as depicted here, I suppose every bit is important to viewers to understand how others live and therefore needs to be there. Very interesting capture. Congrats.

hello Hisashi, long time no see :) I know it's my fault, I haven't visited TE for quite a while... I spend most of my time on www.photofolia.net, there are many former TE-er there, come and join us! :)
love this colourful photo, the row of tables add a good sense of depth to the scene. it would have been better of the woman in the foreground was looking into camera, but I know how difficult it is to measure your timing. still, fascinating photo, I like it a lot.
best,
Kristine

Hi Hisachi,
I love these markets which are rich in colors, scents and where we feel the people happy. They give also an image of the culture of the country.
Your shot illustrates very well my feeling of these markets showing the stands but also sellers and buyers, all the ingredients of the markets.

Hello Hisashi,
i'm be loved with these open air markets of the SE Asia, as in Africa too, that someone can see the great variety of colours and the products to be spread on the benches. Scenes like this one from Ghana, is a great information shot for me, because of i never seen images, unless from your previous one, from this country of Africa.

Hi Hisashi,
never been to this part of the world but I know the name of this town very well. In an old spelling Coomassie it was used to name a dye for wool. Nowadays used to stain proteins in the laboratory. The most popular type of staining, which I used day after day for many years.
I also know that the local delicacy there are rats. And I know that because that is the reason for which one of the very dangerous diseases is spreading around: Lassa fever. Lassa virus is harmless for rats but when it transfers to humans it becomes lethal.
Very pretty very colorful capture of the market. So many types of fruit which add so much color. Very good wide composition. The smiling girl in the FG makes a nice contribution.
Have a good Sunday,
M

Hello Hisashi. A very nice colorful display of fruits and vegetables on this table here. I can only imagine the labor involved in getting the produce moved to this location and then setting it all up and at the end of the day taking it back down again? Thanks for sharing.

The colourful African marketplace attracts attention, buzzing with life!
The low point of view works well and contributes to the sense of depth in the composition, with the woman as a strong front figure...
Sharp details, fine natural colours!
