Photographer's Note
Karo are a small tribe living on the banks of the Omo river. The make a living with subsistence agriculture, augmented with fishing, especially in hard time. Like several of the tribes in that region body painting is common. This man was concentrating on a game of Mancala being played on the ground.

Hi Stephen
There seems to be some similarity here with the body paint worn by some indigenous Australians. Good sharpness and effective tight framing in this superb head and shoulders portrait. Oh and a knee too! Tfs!

Hello Stephen,
When I see the number of men with lots of tattoos, I begin to wonder if some are returning to their roots!!
I just love how you come in close on the subjects that you are photographing. There is always the worry that the person will be aware and spoil the sense of spontaneity but not here! The close facial details and body painting completely fill the f/g with interest and ... amazement! The design is relatively simple but so very effective. I wonder how long it took! (My appointment at the hairdressers takes 2 and a half hours!!!)
Thanks for this, Bev :-)
