It's a great shot for several reasons, TWJ! The boy's expression, and his situation, are timeless and universal, but the bench he's on and the obvious poverty add specific cultural context. The light on the boy is great, and the choice of DOF works very well. (It could be slightly sharper on the boy.)
Your portfolio is very good, from a quick look--you should write critiques, so you get some back! Regards, Ken.

Hello twj,
Another excellent slice of life -- from Eritrea -- and the ubiquitous scene of a child being punished. Better this way than by corporal means. Nicely composed, but a fill-flash may have given an improvement in exposure. However, Kensimage, for whose opinion I have respect, likes the exposure in this manner. Accordingly, honest people can disagree.
Regards,
Bulent

It's an impressive shot!! I love your composition and all the lonliness and sadness in his face.
Thanks for sharing this moment of their lives with us. It's what I think photography is about. Let the others share a feeling of life with others through your shot.
