Photographer's Note

The ancient Egyptians believed that the Nile was the centre of the world, and that the place from which it originated was, the beginning of the world. It is also the chief means of transport even today despite roads and planes.

This photo was taken as we were sailing towards the Esna lock. The right hand side is the third deck of our river boat. To your left is the west bank of the Nile.

I do not know in what State or Province of Egypt, Esna belongs. If you know it please inform me.
