Photographer's Note
It is difficult to imagine, but the columns in the Egyptian temples were painted. Usually, the colours faded away after thousands of years, but sometimes they are still preserved. The best example is in Medinet Habu Temple.
Two more photos in Workshops. All better seen in the large format.

Hello Malgo,
I have no idea why I saw the Ramesseum instead of this. Maybe my guide book recommended that, or I just didn't have time for both. It's fascinating to see some paint remaining, but if all the Egyptian, Greek and Roman temples had kept their original colours we may have found them a bit kitschy. It's the pure elegance of the figures we have learned to love. The main photo is clearly the best, with the fine exposure and depth created by the columns, but the WS provide interesting details.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Malgo,
The length of the alley is creating depth. The point of view is showing the details of the columns. The light is giving good colors output. Have a nice day.

Hello Malgo, three pictures that really show off the magnificent artwork from so long ago.
I have never seen these enormous columns before, and you managed to get an excellent point of view with the columns beautifully lit so that their decoration is easy to view.
It is amazing that the colours have survived, so it gives us a very good impression of the original.
Excellent notes too, thank you.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Malgo,
I didn't actually know that the columns and of course many other architectural details were painted in Egypt. But of course it is natural that most of colours have faded away. Great to see this view showing some idea of what it might have looked like thousands of years ago.

Hello Malgo,
I confess that I do not recall any other photos of ancient columns showing traces of colour.
In your WS1 we see many different colours.
Very impressive temple and you had it all for yourself.
Best regards, Paul

Czesc Malgosiu
Tajemniczo wyglada ten korytarz miedzy kolumnami, oswietlenie bardzo atmosferyczne. Ciekawe co piszesz o kolorach i rzeczywiscie calkiem dobrze widac tu niebieskosci i czerwienie.
Dobrze dobrany pionowy format.
Pozdrawiam serdecznie
Kasia

Hi Malgo
A good one of this column lined passage with just enough paint remaining for us to get an idea of what must have been. 2 good WSs showing more detail.
cheers
