Luxor, ancient Thebes was the capital of ancient Egypt. At that time, two temples dominated the city: Karnak and Luxor. An avenue of more than two kilometers long linking the two temples. Is the Avenue of the Sphinxes. It was built by Pharaoh Nectanebo I (who reigned from 380-362 BC). Its construction replaced an avenue built by Queen Hatshepsut (1502-1482 BC).
